Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 24, 2026
Clip Caddie (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates clipcaddie.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have over it. We’ve written it in plain language because we think you deserve to actually understand it.
What we collect
Information you give us directly
- Account info: your email address and display name when you sign up.
- Content you create: video URLs you save, tags, timestamps, notes, journal entries (practice sessions, lessons), goals, and collections. We store these to provide the service. We do not access your journal content or notes for any purpose other than displaying them back to you.
- Payment info: we use Stripe for payments. We never see or store your card number — Stripe handles all payment data directly.
Information collected automatically
- Usage events: actions like adding a video, logging a practice session, or hitting a plan limit. We collect these as anonymized events via PostHog to understand how the product is used and improve it.
- Error data: when something breaks, Sentry captures error context (the error message, browser type, and page you were on) so we can fix it. This does not include your personal content.
- Standard web logs: Vercel (our hosting provider) logs basic request data (IP address, browser, URL requested) as part of normal infrastructure operation. We do not analyze these logs for marketing purposes.
Third-party services we use
Running Clip Caddie requires several third-party services. Each receives only the data necessary for their function:
| Service | Purpose | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database and authentication | All account and content data (stored on their infrastructure) |
| Stripe | Payment processing | Email address, billing details, subscription status |
| Resend | Transactional email | Your email address, to send account and digest emails |
| PostHog | Product analytics | Anonymized usage events (no personal content) |
| Sentry | Error monitoring | Error context when bugs occur (no personal content) |
| Vercel | Hosting infrastructure | Standard server logs |
We do not sell your personal data to any third party. We do not use your data for advertising targeting.
How we use your information
- To provide and operate the service
- To send weekly practice digest emails (you can opt out in Account settings)
- To send transactional emails (account confirmation, billing receipts, password resets)
- To understand how the product is used so we can improve it
- To diagnose and fix technical errors
- To process payments and manage your subscription
Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (available in Account → Danger Zone), all of your personal data — videos, journal entries, tags, goals, and collections — is permanently deleted from our database. Stripe retains billing records for the period required by law (typically 7 years), even after account deletion, as required for tax and financial compliance.
Your rights
All users
- Access: you can see all of your data in the app at any time.
- Export: your data is yours. If you need an export, email us at support@clipcaddie.com.
- Deletion: you can delete your account and all associated data from Account settings. This is immediate and permanent.
- Email opt-out: you can unsubscribe from digest emails at any time in Account settings. Transactional emails (billing, security) cannot be opted out of while your account is active.
California residents (CCPA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion of your data, and to opt out of the sale of your personal data. We do not sell personal data. To exercise your rights, use the account deletion feature in the app or contact us at support@clipcaddie.com.
EEA and UK residents (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have additional rights under GDPR/UK GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data, and the right to data portability. Our legal basis for processing your data is contractual necessity (to provide the service) and legitimate interests (to improve the product and prevent errors). To exercise your rights, contact us at support@clipcaddie.com.
Security
We take reasonable technical precautions to protect your data: HTTPS everywhere, row-level security on all database tables (your data is scoped to your account only), hashed passwords via Supabase Auth, and regular dependency updates. No system is perfectly secure — if you discover a vulnerability, please report it to support@clipcaddie.com.
Cookies
We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. PostHog uses a first-party cookie to distinguish unique visitors for analytics purposes only.
Children’s privacy
Clip Caddie is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we make material changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top and, for significant changes, send an email to registered users.
